“We often expect progress to be linear. At the very least, we hope it will come quickly. In reality, the results of our efforts are often delayed. It is not until months or years later that we realize the true value of the previous work we have done. This can result in a “valley of disappointment” where people feel discouraged after putting in weeks or months of hard work without experiencing any results. However, this work was not wasted. It was simply being stored. It is not until much later that the full value of previous efforts is revealed….You should be far more concerned with your current trajectory than with your current results.” [James Clear in Atomic Habits]

“You do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” [James 4:14]
Time flies. Life feels like a vapor. Days, weeks, months, and years pass before our eyes. Recognize how fleeting the days are. We’re here today and gone tomorrow, so we must maximize every moment and make the most of our time. Soak in every good moment. Give it your full attention. Spend time with God, your spouse, children, and friends. Learn to put your phone down. Get off social media; the endless scrolling is stealing your life. It’s true; check your screen time. Instead, talk to God about what’s on your mind. Have an honest conversation with someone you love. Look your children in their eyes; play with them. Compliment your wife and make her feel special. Learn to enjoy every moment you have. Live your life with purpose, and don’t allow time to slip between your fingers like sand. Make the most of your time.
“Lost time is never found again.” – James H. Aughey

Commitment is crucial. Men must commit in the following three areas…
Be committed to pursuing Christ. Radical dedication to Jesus is the only way. When you commit to Jesus, He commits to you. “I will contend with those who contend with you, and I will save your children.” [Isaiah 49:25 ESV]
You need other men in your life who you can be radically honest with. You need men who bring truth to your life and not just comfort. Men who will encourage but also challenge you. Choose to be surrounded by and committed to other strong men.
Men are the head of the home. Thus, the home is on your head…you are responsible for the condition of your family. Become a skilled leader in your home and succeed there first. Commit to your family or someone else will.
“Associate yourself with men of good quality, if you esteem your own reputation; for ’tis better to be alone than in bad company.”

“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” -Jesus
“A little band of men, the followers of Christ, are separated from the rest of the world. The disciples are few in number, and will always be few. This saying of Jesus forestalls all exaggerated hopes for success. Never let a disciple of Jesus pin his hopes on large numbers. “Few there be…” The rest of the world are many, and will always be many. But they are on the road to perdition (damnation).” [Dietrich Bonhoeffer in The Cost of Discipleship]
