HOW TO TEST YOURSELF
“Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves.” 2Corinthians 13:5
How can you test the purity of your spirit? The Bible tells us we must “examine ourselves”; there is a direct command from scripture advising us that self-evaluation is necessary. We must examine the state of our faith. We must test ourselves so that growth, purity, and maturity will prevail.
Here are some questions you can ask to test yourself and gain an understanding of your current state:
#1 Is my love for God increasing? Is my love for my family increasing?
(More than emotions- actions.)
#2 Am I growing in my spiritual habits?
(Bible. Prayer. Serving.)
#3 Is my heart growing softer or harder towards God? How about toward people?
(bitterness/sin/anger/vengeance/greed hardens your heart)
Take a moment to answer these questions…Put on some worship music…Create the atmosphere for reflection. Write some things down and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you.
“Resolved, whenever my feelings begin to appear in the least out of order, when I am conscious of the least uneasiness within, or the least irregularity without, I will then subject myself to the strictest examination” -Jonathan Edwards
